Professional Resources For:

Parents

As a parent you need to know where to find hundreds of resources to help your family. This is your one stop shop. In the listing of subjects on the left hand side of this page, you will find over 3,000 local and national resources to help you with any need you or your family has. In the Adult Topic Section we have 36 subjects such as: Housing, legal services, immigration services, veteran services, free tax preparation and much more. And most of our topic tabs have a number for you to call toll-free to talk to an expert about your need.

Money Smart KC has created three very specific topic sections just for your children. The Young Adult/Teen/Youth sections/topics provide information and resources to help students navigate areas of their lives which impact their financial health and well-being. Through these topics/sections, individuals who are ages 5 through 24 have access to hundreds of vetted resources for each of their respective age groups. Each section/topic has been developed with the end users in mind and crafted to provide stabilization and financial education resources directly to young adults, teens, and youth in metropolitan Kansas City. Through innovative and relevant subject matter headers, relatable images and age-appropriate resources and language, the Young Adult/Teen/Youth topics/sections can significantly change how this type of information is shared with students.

The goals of the Young Adult/Teen/Youth topics/sections are to encourage holistic financial education and family stabilization awareness, as well as to provide access to hands-on resources and information, including emergency and need-based support. Although some youth will approach their parents or other trusted adults in an emergency or with a need-based issue, others may be too embarrassed or think they will get into trouble. Therefore, the resources in these sections/topics will give students another avenue for help and support, including talking to professionals who care.

Teachers, parents, school counselors, family members and others who have influence amongst our youth can reference these Young Adult/Teen/Youth topics/sections to educate and assist the young people in their lives. These topics/sections provide information and resources for saving, smart shopping, entrepreneurship, preparing for college, careers and much more. As students learn to use the website at a young age, they will be more likely to use it as they get older and as their needs expand.

The website topic was specifically designed for Metropolitan Kansas City. The topics have national as well as local resources. The topics are evaluated and change every month. By providing an parents and youth with an ever changing, vetted resource that is consistently updated, we are providing them a resource to access multiple times and for multiple subjects. It is our goal that youth will start utilizing the website in elementary, middle and high school and continue to utilize the website as they progress to adulthood. The stabilization that one resource provides could have a major impact on the stabilization of an entire family in the long term.
