Partners
You can plan financial literacy programs, activities and events under the Money Smart Month of Greater Kansas City awareness and media campaign. Financial literacy presenters are also needed and can register online to be selected by an area organization that would like to plan an event but does not have a speaker.

Guidelines for Partners
Money Smart Month partners are asked to adhere to the following guidelines:

  • All events must be educational in nature and relate to improving knowledge of personal finances, from basic savings tips to advanced money-management strategies. Sales pitches and/or commercial marketing are strictly prohibited.
  • Most events should be free and open to the public. Private events will be included for appropriate audiences such as students, employees and professional groups, but, might not be publicized as part of the campaign calendar.
  • Events should be registered by completing an Event Form online or by fax by February 9 in order to be included within marketing and media efforts for the campaign. Submissions will be reviewed for approval on an ongoing basis.
  • Events should be promoted to target audience(s) using existing promotional vehicles, as well as the campaign marketing materials provided.
  • Partner and participant evaluation forms should be completed following the events to assist with measurement efforts. Completed forms are due by May 11. They can be emailed to Mike English or to submit hard copies, contact Mike English at 816-235-2654.
  • Any photos, media clips and/or stories from events should be forwarded to Mike English to be included in the annual campaign report.

How to Plan an Event
It’s simple, just follows these easy steps:

  1. Identify a financial education event to host during the month of April 1-30.
  2. Submit a completed Event Form describing your organization and the activity. You may fill out the form online or by fax/mail. The deadline for registering an event is Friday, February 9, 2012.
  3. Commit to promoting your event to your target audience(s)–including the use of the campaign marketing and media materials–through existing e-mail/mailing lists, newsletters, local media sources, etc.
  4. Make copies of the participant evaluations forms that will be emailed to you prior to your event.  Make sure all participants fill one out, and then send to Mike English by May 11th.  This will assist in both evaluating the success of this year’s campaign as well as planning for next year.

For additional information on hosting an event, please contact one of our coordinating organizations.
