Financial education among our youth is essential to their well-being and of vital importance to our economic future.  In light of the recent economic downturn, we are reminded of how it is critically important for individuals to become “money smart” at an early age.  This will prepare our youth for good decision-making skills in areas such as using credit wisely, saving for retirement, budgeting, paying for college education, buying a car or home:  all areas that require more financial savvy than ever before.

Please refer to the contests for Money Smart Month that includes activities for middle school and high school students.  Also, the program Teach Children to Save during Money Smart Month will help educate our elementary students in the Kansas City Area.

Don’t forget to check out our calendar for youth events during Money Smart Month 2012.  The youth events will kick-off at Money Smart Day on March 31, 2012 which is held at American Century Investments and sponsored by the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City.
